EMI Filter Removal


The Delta EL Series VFD used in the 3 HP and 4 HP Avid CNC Plug and Play Spindle / VFD Systems features an EMI filter that can trip GFCI outlets due to a small leakage current. If a GFCI outlet is used to power your Spindle / VFD System, follow the instructions below to remove the EMI filter.

Warning

Before proceeding, ensure that the Spindle / VFD System is turned off AND the power cord is disconnected from the outlet.

  • Open the VFD controller and locate the plastic cover just above the VFD's keypad.
  • Open the this cover by lifting upwards.

  • Loosen the indicated small screw (approximately 3-4 turns) using a standard or Phillips screwdriver.

  • On the right side of the VFD, use a small standard screwdriver to remove the EMI filter.

  • Re-tighten the small screw that was previously loosened.

  • Close the plastic cover.
  • The VFD's power cord can now be reconnected to the GFCI outlet.
