Moving Tool Rack

The Moving Tool Rack delivers full ATC functionally without compromising the work envelope of your machine. The air-actuated rack slides in for tool changes and retracts out of the way during cutting.

The rack uses vertical tool cradles that make for fast, consistent tool changes and tool lengths are automatically set using the rack mounted tool height setter.

For additional peace of mind, the system includes a tool presence sensor to confirm cradle availability for tool drop offs, tool taper cleaning to keep tool holders free of dust and debris, and rack in/out sensors to ensure the rack is in the right place before and after every tool change.

Curated & Guided Setup

What you're getting with the Avid Smart ATC System isn't just a pile of hardware, it's a guided, software driven setup experience, designed to remove the guesswork and get your system making automatic tool changes in no time.

Every step is handled through a wizard inside the Centroid control environment, walking you through calibration, testing, and validation with clear instructions at every step.

And when you're ready to scale, the system is ready too. The same calibration routine used for the main tool rack works with additional tool bins you add anywhere on your machine. If you outgrow your rack or want to organize tools by job type or material, you can expand without custom coding or macros.

The "Aux Box"

The Auxiliary Control Box (Aux Box for short) is the command center for our Smart ATC System. Powered by a Centroid Ether1616, this box gives your EX Controller expanded I/O far beyond what's available in a standard setup.

It handles everything the ATC needs: rack motion, tool presence detection, tool taper cleaning, drawbar sensors, and more.

Plus, we've built in extra electrical and pneumatic I/O so you're set up for future Avid accessories or your own add-ons. If you're the kind of user who likes to customize, experiment, or be in the drivers seat, this box gives you the headroom to do so.
